The Podcast that Celebrates Women on Bikes!

I started the Joyride because I wanted an excuse to talk to rad, inspiring women who dare to live life on two wheels.

This show gives me an excuse to be a total dork, get really curious, hear all different kinds of stories, and elevate women’s voices. It’s important for me to make media that reflects what this community really looks like. We come in all kinds of diverse bodies and colors and shapes and attitudes. I want to honor all those beautiful differences and help elevate the voices that might otherwise get talked over.

Why? Because I think the world would be a better place if more gals rode bikes. And I think the more we share stories and elevate voices, the more we see our commonalities in each other and imagined barriers start to fall away.

Plus we’re fucking awesome. So there’s that too.

Hi, I’m Cat Caperello. Writer, bike dork, and open road enthusiast.

You’ll hear me mention “girleatsbike.com” on the first 30 episodes of Joyride, because that’s my blog where the podcast lived before it moved to this spiffy site.

The site was called GirlEatsBike because it was a weight loss blog where I journaled about finding fitness with bikes and spin class as some primary tools. The images below are from my journey.

I’ve been in the 185-neighborhood for over a year, and it almost like this is from another life. In many ways, it is.

Now I live in Portland, Oregon – my home – and I love going bike camping several times a year with my Soma Double Cross Disc Pele and hope to do a Pacific Coast tour someday. I also volunteer with the StreetTrust’s WomenBike program.

When I’m not on the bike, I like to hang out with my wife and dog, cook yummy food, listen to music, and write.

Remember friends, “Life Shrinks or Expands in Proportion to One’s Courage.”

Forever Forward,

~C
